Vision2Hire Solutions appoints new CEO Vancouver

VANCOUVER (May 9, 2001) - The board of directors of Vision2Hire Solutions announces today the appointment of David J. Wood as Chief Executive Officer and director of the board.

"We are delighted to have Dave at the helm of Vision2Hire to take the company to its next level," says Mark Scott, chairman of the board and managing director of Scotia Capital Inc. "He brings a wealth of experience, especially in the area of creating and managing high growth in high tech companies."

Mr. Wood has been involved in the technology sector for 20 years, primarily working with start-up and early-stage companies. As CEO of Impact Solutions, a golf equipment manufacturer, he took the company from turnaround to the eighth largest golf club provider in the U.S. in less than one year, an achievement that allowed the owners to successfully execute their exit strategy.

During his tenure as VP Sales & Marketing at Nexus Engineering, he helped facilitate the company's growth from a 20-employee start-up with limited market presence to a major market player with 350-employees and a host of awards for excellence, innovative management, advertising, exporting and entrepreneurship. Nexus was acquired by a major telecomm industry player, making it one of the top success stories in the Vancouver high tech industry.

"What I love about start-ups is the tremendous energy and commitment to making a good product better and getting it into the hands of the people who need it," says Wood. "The applicant tracking and response management industry is still too young for a clear winner to be predicted. But Vision2Hire is an aspirin to a real-life headache in the business community. It's a headache that can only get larger and what excites me about our product is that it is already in a position to be the best of breed, with the potential to be the gorilla in the SME space."

Vision2Hire Solutions is a private company funded largely by a multi-million dollar private placement financing by Discovery Capital Corporation. Its clients are found in industries from biotechnology and high technology to hospitality and construction. The client roster includes Intrawest (development, ski resorts, golf), Ipsos-Reid, Maple Leaf Sports, Inex Pharmaceuticals, BC Gas, and Xcellis Fuel Cell Engines.

Discovery Capital, ranked among Canada's most experienced technology venture capital firms, has funded the acceleration of more than 200 Canadian start-ups, including: Sierra Wireless (market cap $630.5M); Bfound.com/SignalSoft (market cap $187.5M); Dees Communications/NICE Systems ($184.6M); ALI Technologies ($53.1M);

Inex Pharmaceuticals (market cap $177.2M).

As CEO and a director of the board, Mr. Wood joins Mark Scott (Chair) Managing Director, Scotia Capital Inc.; Greg Scott (Secretary) Founder, Vision2Hire Solutions; Randy Garg (Director) Executive Vice President, Discovery Capital Corp.; and James Griffiths (Director), Seots Industrial Inc.

Vision2Hire Solutions is an Internet application service provider (ASP) that develops and markets a proprietary applicant talent management system for Human Resource practitioners. In development since 1995, and released commercially in early 2000, the company is headquartered in Vancouver, with branch offices in Calgary and Toronto. Its wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Vision2Hire Inc., is based in Bellevue, WA with a satellite office in Phoenix, AZ. In November 2000, Vision2Hire Solutions closed a multi-million dollar financing led by Discovery Capital Corporation, a Vancouver-based venture capital firm.
